At 17, he threw her a transmission manual for a 700R4 transmission for their taxi fleet vehicles, and the first one she built from a book worked.
Jaime also has two siblings, sister/business partner Naomi B Hjelm and brother Frank Hjelm. Naomi turned 41 in September 2022 and Frank turned 46 in April 2023. Naomi lived in Elgin, Illinois as of 2023 while being married. The same was not known for Frank.

As a skilled fabricator and mechanic, Frank once competed in Discovery’s hit series BITCHIN’ RIDES. And Jaime on LinkedIn also mentioned competing with 11 others on Motortrend’s “Bitchin Boot Camp” by Bitchin in 2020.
