5 Forma Wisp Build by TheFunGal - Archon Wisp | Support + Solo viable | Alternate mods listed - Overframe (2024)

Why choose this?

This build focuses on being powerful both in solo and in a team. It combines a support worthy of her assets with the survivability to take almost anything head on solo.

Ability Breakdown

Reservoirs:

Choose and summon a Reservoir filled with Motes that attach to and aid [Wisp] and her allies. Haste Mote grants increased movement and attack speed. [Vitality] Mote increases maximum health and heals over time. Shock Mote stuns nearby enemies.

This is the center of [Wisp]'s kit, and is the primary reason you'll almost never see a [Wisp] build under 90% duration. KEEP THESE BUFFS UP! Easy to do during stationary objectives, but you'll want to recast every now and then when on the move.

Wil-O-Wisp:

Cast forward a spectral image of [Wisp] to confuse and distract enemies. Reactivate to travel to its position. Hold to have the image travel faster and teleport to its position on release.

While this ability synergizes well with Breach Surge and even mildly with Reservoirs, the primary usage of it will generally come down to being a panic ability. IMPORTANT: After the second cast, you will gain 3 seconds of invincibility! Whenever in a bind, double tab and reposition, and you'll be good to go!

Breach Surge:

Open a dimensional breach to overwhelm nearby enemies and cause them to release aggressive Surge sparks when damaged. [Wisp] may also target a Reservoir to teleport to it and double the range of the surge.

Behold, the might of [Wisp]. If Reservoirs are the center of her kit, Breach Surge is her call to victory. Both a stun (this stun even works on eximus units! note: the damage buff does not until overguard is depleted), and a powerful damage boosting ability, it will essentially cause a part of the damage you deal to enemies to spread to other enemies, along with a chance to proc Radiation.

Sol Gate:

Whoa hold up, we don't use that here. Note: there are some builds that may make use of it, but in my experience, this is best used as the slot for a subsumed ability.

Roar (Subsumed):

Grants all nearby Warframes increased damage for a short duration.

This is the Subsume I typically use due to its extremely powerful +30% BASE damage bonus to anything (almost), and stacks multiplicatively with other bonuses, making this a welcome addition to any arsenal. Ability Strength increases this effect.

Alternative Subsumes

Pillage:

Pillage a percentage of Shields and Armor of nearby enemies to replenish [Hildryn]'s own Shields and Overshields.

At 400% strength (can be achieved by making sure [Growing Power] is active, and charging Rank 5 Molt Augmented arcane to 221 kills, which isn't difficult), this ability can 100% armor strip while giving yourself overshields.

Terrify:

Casts fear into the hearts of nearby enemies, causing them to run away in terror.

An alternative to Pillage, can also armor strip, but doesn't need any help from conditional power strength (like Molt Augmented). One thing that can be an issue, is it causes enemies to run AWAY from you, which is often not a good thing.

Fire Blast:

Slam the ground to create a wave of incinerating plasma that knocks back enemies and strips their armor.

Yet another alternative to Pillage! It has a really nice 100% proc chance of Heat, and knocks enemies back and to the ground, which can be handy, but unfortunately the armor strip is capped at 75% for the subsumed variant.

Dispensary:

Deploys a device that generates 3 pickups after a short delay: empowered health orb, universal ammo pack and energy orb.

You're already support, so you might as well go full support, right? Most likely you won't be needing the energy or health pickups, but depending on your weapon ammo efficiency, this could come in handy!

Airburst:

Launch a burst of massively dense air. Hold to send enemies flying, tap to pull them toward the burst. Damage increases per enemy hit.

Now THIS is a fun ability, and can be extremely useful. Tapping will likely be the primary use, since it flings enemies from their locations and groups them all together pretty nicely! (Better than Pull, and arguably better than Larva) Finish off with a Breach Surge, and fire away for massive damage!

Mod Breakdown

Growing Power: This is your bread and butter passive that should be active almost all the time. Free 25% Strength!

Fused Reservoir: Adds a fourth mote that is all three mote types combined. Optional, but this mod has massive qol in that you won't have to cycle through all three motes every time you move locations - though in missions with stationary objectives, this is less beneficial, and can be replaced with other exilus mods.

Augur Secrets and Augur Message: In addition to their usefulness in Strength and Duration respectively, their passive can come in handy for some extra survivability (more on that later).

Archon Stretch: I always prefer a little range in my [Wisp] builds, and with this specific range mod, it has a passive that DOES indeed work with her Shock Mote, and as such, procs almost constantly for a very convenient and helpful +2% energy/second, this does wonders for her energy economy. Note that there is a high likelyhood this mod will become even more powerful if/when a Primed [Stretch] is released, further increasing the viability of this mod.

Adaptation: This is here to boost your survivability to the moon (or the Tau system I guess?) At max rank, you gain 10% damage reduction to the types of damage you get hit by, and it stacks all the way to 90%! It may sound a little underwhelming, but in practice, it is incredibly powerful.

Alternatives

[Fused Reservoir]: This augment is pure qol, and if you're crazy enough to not care about it, it is easily replaceable with other exilus mods such as [Primed Sure Footed] (or [Handspring] if you don't have it yet), or [Power Drift].

[Augur Message] & Secrets: These can both be changed out for mods that give more duration and strength than these do if you're not interested in the shield regen mechanic - though personally I would advise against removing them.

[Adaptation]: There are many mods that boost survivability, and really, any of the major players can go here instead of [Adaptation], even though I find this to be the most comfortable with my playstyle. Other options may include [Rolling Guard], Primed Surefooted, or even mods that boost health or armor can be used here, though the scaling won't be as good.

Arcane Barrier: To be honest, what you put here depends heavily on your playstyle. Personally, I find this arcane helpful due to the free shield gate every now and then, but it's definitely not necessary. Other options may include Arcane Energize, Arcane Grace, Molt [Vigor], or any offensive arcanes that work with your chosen kit.

Shield Gating

So you may have noticed the Augur mods and Arcane Barrier. These are very useful on their own, but can also be optionally paired with a Decaying Dragon Key equipped in gear to drain your shields down to about 56, which with the low efficiency of this build, allows you to FULLY replenish your shields with a single use of [Fused Reservoir] (singular reservoirs don't work for this), Breach Surge, or Roar.

A brief explanation of the mechanics of shield gating is as such: When your shields are depleted from full shield (or overshields) to zero, you will have a short window of invincibility lasting 1.3 seconds. If your shields are still recharging, and are then depleted again, the window closes to a mere 0.3 seconds, which will not likely be enough time to react. Thus, having a low amount of shields paired with shield restoring mods, arcanes, etc, will allow for the 1.3 seconds of invincibility to occur very often, increasing your survivability by a massive amount.

Shield gating is high effort, but well worth it when mastered.

Closing

Well that's all I've got! I hope this guide helps, and at the very least, helped you understand the mechanics and strategies of this build and [Wisp] as a whole! Have a wonderful day!
